Top and Bottom Sheers...

Several of my recent clients have asked me what a top and bottom sheers are.  Sometimes abbreviated as T+B or T+B sheers, they are sheers  that are held in place with a rod at both the top and bottom of the treatment.

This one features and embroidered sheer.
Some people choose to tie the center with a band (often called a belly band) which will form an hourglass shape.  Others will do the inverse exposing a diamond of unobstructed glass in the middle.  Either way the key thing to remember is that while it will give you an added level of privacy; if light can come through then it is possible for people to see through it too.

P.S.  I have a bonus picture showing three possible configurations of top rod only sheers.  If you would like to see it comment or e-mail me and I will send it to you.

A DC apartment...

My work from yesterday turned out so nice I thought I would share it with you.   Can't wait to get the other pieces up.
Two fantastic Fabricut pillows on the sofa.
The Dining Room.
Just installed the valance and panels. The chairs were done prior.
One more, I can't help myself.
Valance, Drapes, Quilted comforter.  Headboard, Throw pillows, and Bed-skirt.   Might need some ironing.
Would you like your rooms to look this nice?  I would be happy to help.  And even better we don't charge for my services.

There is a reason...

We often advise against using certain fabrics for particular applications.  One such inadvisable choice is using silk sheers for...well pretty much anything.  I was once asked by a customer how long I thought a piece would last if it was not protected from the sun.  I couldn't answer.  I've seen cotton destroyed in a single year, who knows how much light and what intensity it will be.  Either way here are a few pictures that should hopefully convince you.

Pretty pretty silk sheers...

Oops.  It flakes off at the touch.
Please note, we did not make these.  I was called in to replace them.  Hopefully I should have after pics in a few weeks should anyone want to see the new more sun tolerant pieces.
